Leland Fife papers, 1943-1944, 2000
Scope and Contents note
Materials contain a short story wherein Leland Fife relates an experience where his mother had a strong feeling that his endangered ship would survive its ordeal, and appeared to him in a vision to comfort him. Also contains a letter written by Fife's wife describing her involvement in the war as a military nurse. Photographs show Fife and his wife, Dove, in full military dress and together in their later years. Also included is a photograph of Fife's mother. Fife served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Nehenta. His wife, Dove Fife, served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant in the Nurse Corps. She was assigned to the B-29 air force training base in Fairmont, Nebraska. Dated 19434-1944, 2001.
