Materials contain a short memoir outlining Joseph Kenneth Doty's flight training and aerial operations while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Describes his raids against naval and land-based targets on Okinawa and Tokyo. Mentions a bombing raid over Tokyo in which his airplane was crippled and the entire crew was forced to bail out over the Pacific. Recounts their rescue and return to their carrier, the U.S.S. Monterey. Also includes a list of his military decorations and a history of his service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Photographs show the U.S.S. Monterey and Doty's downed airplane. Doty is also shown with his flight crew and receiving a medal from his ship's commanding officer. Dated 1943-1946, approximately 2001.
