Scope and Contents note

Materials contain a letter from Rodney Jackson with details of his military service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Includes a short history of the U.S.S. Mount Hood, which Jackson served on before it exploded in a horrific accident. Also includes a history of the U.S.S. Marcus Island which he served on for the duration of the war, most notably at Leyte Gulf. Contains a lithograph of the Escort Carrier, U.S.S. Marcus Island, and a photocopy of a plaque given to Jackson commemorating his service during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Photograph shows him in military dress. Dated approximately 1943 and 1994-1995.
