Scope and Contents
Materials contain papers relating to Benjamin K. Wallace regarding his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Claxton (DD 571) as the supply and disbursing officer. Contains brief memoir in which Wallace discusses his role as the ship's "unofficial chaplain", numerous Kamikaze attacks, and watching General MacArthur return to walk ashore on the Philippines. Includes newspaper clipping written by Wallace entitled "Wartime--Christmas 50 Years Ago" describing Christmas aboard the Claxton and photocopied photographs of Wallace, his ship, and General MacArthur. Contains a floppy disk. Also contains his answers to the Saints at War questionnaire. Dated 1939-1962, 1994, and 2001.
