Scope and Contents
File contain materials related to the service of Kenneth J. Brown in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II as the 5th Division’s Chaplain’s assistant. Materials includes a detailed memoir, photographs, and maps, sketches of battles, newspaper clippings, and obituaries of Brown’s comrades. The memoir discusses his induction, training, the living and ships on the Hawaiian bases. He also discusses the Iwo Jima invasion a detailed, day-by-day account of the naval coastal bombardments. The photographs depict Brown in military dress, his company, and his living quarters. Dated approximately 1944-1946.
