Materials contain a short memoir detailing the military experiences of Donald C. Hess. Discusses his induction, decision to enlist in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and his participation in the first crew to train with the new B-29 Super fortress Bomber. Describes his duties while stationed on the Marianna’s Islands, and a crash landing on Iwo Jima in his B-29 that nearly killed the entire crew. Contains a chart of the 39th Bomb Squadron's operational history. . Dated approximately 1980-2000.
