Scope and Contents
Materials contain an account of the World War II experiences of LaVerd John stationed at Biak Island, off the coast of New Guinea. He relates his experiences as a Latter-day Saint soldier, including sharing his religious beliefs with fellow servicemen. He also describes the reaction of rural Japanese communities to seeing a Caucasian for the first time. Includes several photocopied photographs from John's military service, as well as a photocopied article featuring John. Dated 1943-1946, 2002-2003.
