Scope and Contents
Materials contain the military account of Wendell Chappell in the U.S. Army during World War II. Describes his training and participation in the occupation of Japan. He describes the post-war poverty and starvation he saw there. He recalls the dangers of being an occupational serviceman, and the racial tension present among the American soldiers. Includes photocopied photographs of Chappell and his fellow servicemen. Dated 1945-1946 and approximately 2002.
