Scope and Contents

Materials contain papers relating to the service of Joseph Truman Blake in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II from 1943-1946. Contains a life history of Blake written by his sister Roberta Blake Barnum, with sections written by Blake. It describes his entry into the Army, and military service in New Caledonia and the Philippine Islands. Blake recounts being wounded in battle at Luzon and having his arm fixed by Doctor Leslie Hildebrand. Includes copied photographs (1943-1946), a map of California, a photocopied military certificate (1943), a photocopied 1944 Church News article about Latter-Day Saint servicemen in the Pacific, a photocopied article about the Philippine campaign (1945), photocopied telegrams and letters sent to Blake's parents when he was wounded (1945). Dated 1943-1946 and 1999-2000.
