Scope and Contents note

Material contains papers relating to Cecil Grant Ash's service in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942-1945. Contains a statement of Ash's military service from the Army, a letter to Ash's parents from his friend Max Sharp, and a copy of an article entitled "'Kriegie' Bombardier" from For the Duration. The article is a compilation of excerpts from Ash's autobiography that describe a mission over Austria where Ash was captured by the Germans and placed in Stalag Luft 3. He describes a march through Germany in cold weather before being liberated. Also contains a list of Latter-Day Saints members who attended church in Stalag Luft 3 and Latter-Day Saint members Ash met while in Germany. Contains copied photographs of Ash and friends. Also contains a bound autobiography of Ash, written in 1990. Dated 1942-2002.
