Scope and Contents note
Materials contain a compilation of oral histories and written documents of Clarence Jesse Harmon regarding his service in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942-1945. The histories and documents were compiled by Harmon's granddaughter, Mary Ann Harmon, in 1997. Contains a life history that discusses Harmon’s life before the war. Describes an intense bombing mission. Talks about returning to the States at the end of the war and his life afterwards. Also talks about his family of five children. Also contains several photocopied photographs of "Bud" from throughout his life. Also contains an interview conducted by his granddaughter in 1994 in which he summarizes his experiences flying B-17s and B-24s, bombing Germany, and seeing several good friends die. Also contains an interview conducted by his grandson, Robbie Harmon, in 1996 in which he again summarizes his war experiences. Also contains "A Tribute to Dad," given at his funeral by his son, Mark, in 1997. Contains more photocopied photographs of "Bud" in uniform, with his other crewmembers, and with his plane. Also contains an audio log of interviews with Harmon. Dated December 10, 1997.
