Material contains papers of John A. Linford regarding his service as a pilot in the U.S Army Air Corps during World War II from 1943-1945. Contains a letter written by Linford in 2002 about a Lieutenant Lewis in the 445th Bomb Group, whose crew disappeared in 1944 in Europe. Contains a memoir written by Linford in 1999 about his flight training, the aircraft, and his missions in Europe. Mentions meeting Jimmy Stewart at a wing briefing.
