Materials contain a biography of Edward S. Michael that is an excerpt from an in-progress work of Joseph Bowman. Biography describes Michael's military career, from his enlistment in the Army Air Corps in 1940 to his retirement in 1971 as a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force. Describes one of his missions as a pilot over Germany during World War II on April 11, 1944, for which he received the Medal of Honor. Contains an excerpt from the War Department News Release in 1945 that describes the same mission. Contains copied photographs of Michael's plane after crash landing in England and copied photographs of Michael in military uniform. Includes a copy of Michael's retirement order. Dated 1942-2001.
