Scope and Contents
Materials contain a brief summary of Harold E. Kearl's military life, correspondence with parents, and dealings with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a pilot. Discusses bombing missions, flight crew, and the renown of his bomber, which survived 65 bombing raids over Europe. Includes a photograph of his bomber. Includes a letter to his parents describing his visit to his brother's grave in Germany, an official letter (in English and Russian) allowing him to travel in Russian-controlled German territory to visit the grave, and photographs of the grave. Also includes a map showing the location of a lake in northern Canada named for Eldon Kearl, and his obituary notice. Dated 1946, 1992-2001.
