A note by Berendt reads: "This vocabulary has been for more than fifty years in the possession of a Catholic priest, Clemente Castillejos, who got it from his predecessor in the curate of Tecpatlán, and left it to his nephew, the licenciate don Mariano Rodríguez, in the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, who told me it had on a blank leaf, only lately lost, the words 'ño de 1733'."
