Recalls hearing of the death of his mother and the birth of his second son, describes a bombing incident which should have left him injured, and talks about a German family that let him and two other men stay at their home after he offered them a box of C rations during Christmas. Mentions being able to attend an Latter-Day Saint sacrament meeting in Paris and finally going home to his wife and two sons. Finally mentions reverting back to the standing reserve and retiring as a Lt. Colonel after 28 years of service. Also contains a letter from General Patton commending the 3rd Army for their good work and victory (1945), several personal military records, certificates for service, and other awards.
