Scope and Contents note

Material contains papers of Henry Wendell Jones regarding his service in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941-1945. Contains a history written by his daughter describing his training, assignment in England, and assignment as a liaison officer during the D-Day invasion. Includes several quotations from letters written by Jones. Also contains historical information about World War II, D-Day, and the 743rd Tank Battalion, where Jones achieved the rank of Captain. Includes drawings, Army documents, and a letter. Also contains a book titled "Letters Home" compiled by Jones's daughter Jan Jones Dimick in 2002. This book includes a life history of Jones, his letters written during his military service and mission, photographs, copied documents, and talks given at his funeral. Dated 1944-2002.
