Materials contain a transcript of a film interview with Artur Schwiermann regarding his service in the German Army during World War II. Gives a detailed description of his experience in the Hitler Youth and describes Nazi Germany before the war. Explains his efforts to pray and observe the Sabbath while in prison camp. Describes feelings when he found out Germany had lost the war and explains that he didn't know about concentration camps during the war. Describes being captured by the Russians and his experiences in the prison camp. Discusses keeping the Word of Wisdom even though they were only given coffee to drink. Mentions trading tobacco rations for food. Relates the experience of having to make staples, then finding a load of staples on a train, stealing them, and using them to fill the quota of 200 per day. Reminisces about his mother, who gave food to Russian prisoners in Germany and who died a few days after Schwiermann returned home. Explains that his testimony grew through his experiences. Describes his emigration to America after the war and his opinion of America as an "extension of heaven." Dated 2000-2001.
