Note on verso: "47. SHENSI'S 'WOMAN-BANDIT' NO. 1: Miss Liu Chen-hsien, 29 years old, secretary of the Women's Department of the Shensi Provincial Trade Unions. Formerly a Shanghai factory worker, she studied at Eastern Workers' University and Sun Yat-sen University in Moscow; organized and led the women workers of Shanghai during the Great Revolution of 1927; close friend of Mrs. Sun Yat-sen, widow of the founder of the Kuomintang; former friend of Rayna Proehme, fair lady of Vincent Sheean's 'Personal History.' The bandit-suppressors offer $25,000 for her capture. Photo by Edgar Snow, 1936."
