Typescript of an interview with Eugene F. Carter conducted by Ben Bahlmann on October 29, 1999, in Provo, Utah. Bahlmann retained the audiocassettes from which the typescript was made. Carter talks about his early life and the death of his parents. He also tells about his military experiences in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as a gunner for B-24 bombers and was deployed in North Africa. He was on 61 combat missions over southern Europe, was shot down in the Mediterranean Sea on one occasion, and observed the operations of the black market in Italy during the war.

Biographical / Historical

Eugene F. Carter was born September 15, 1915 in Eureka, Utah. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as a gunner for B-24 bombers and was deployed in North Africa. He was on 61 combat missions over southern Europe and was shot down in the Mediterranean Sea. Carter passed away in 2002 in Provo, Utah.
