Scope and Contents

Contains Atkins's letters to her husband Alvin, written during the years he served his mission in London, England. The letters are primarily written from Salt Lake City, Utah. Atkins details matters at home, financial and economic affairs, stories about their daughter Ruth, or "Ruthie," and dealings with friends and family. She also records births, deaths, and marriages, as well as local news. Notes from friends and acquaintances are mixed in with Atkins's letters, including a letter from R. W. Cooper (dated December 11, 1906), a drawing from "H.C." (dated 1906), and a Christmas postcard from "Ruthie" (dated "Xmas. 1906"). Of particular note are recipes for fritters and plumb pudding from Atkins to Smith, which were requested in one of her husband's previous letters. Dated December 3, 1906 - December 31, 1906.
