Scope and Contents

Contains a set of black and white ultraviolet photographs of the Wilford Wood fragments of the original Book of Mormon manuscript. David W. Hawkinson reportedly photographed the fragments in October 1991 at the Harold B. Lee Library conservation lab. As the editor of the Book of Mormon critical text project, Royal Skousen was in possession of the photographs and eventually donated them to Brigham Young University in 1992. Materials dated October 1991.

Biographical / Historical

David W. Hawkinson had a fifteen-year tenure at the Brigham Young University Museum of Art where he created and managed the Imaging and Photographic Services program. There he photographed fragments from the original Book of Mormon manuscript from the Wilford Wood Collection in October of 1991.

He also documented fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls for publication and research, photographed and handled original Rembrandt etchings and produced images of ancient Chinese artifacts of jade, gold, ivory, and stone for documentation and publication. He started Hawkinson Photography during January 2001 in Provo, Utah.
