Note on verso: "112. Red cadets gather for August First celebration near Pao An, North Shensi. On August 1, 1927, Ho Lung, Yeh Ting and Chu Teh, famed Kuomintang generals, led their troops at Nanchang, Kianghsi, in an historic uprising, which began the independent career of the Red Army in China. Here 'Red-bandits' celebrate that date, now become a 'national holiday' in Red territory. Photo by Edgar Snow, 1936."
