Scope and Contents
Typescript of an interview conducted with Johnny Y. Wakamatsu by Ben Bahlmann on August 31, 1999. The audiocassettes, from which the interview was transcribed, were retained by Bahlmann. Wakamatsu's discusses his ancestry and childhood, and joining the United States Army in 1941 and serving with the 442nd regiment in Europe starting in 1944. He talks mainly about his combat experience.

Biographical / Historical
Johnny Y. Wakamatsu was born in Washington state. His parents were from Japan. Jonny served with the 442nd regiment of the United States Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He was stationed in Europe starting in 1944.
