Note on verso: "130. Red salute. This 12-year-old Commander of the Young Vanguards orders his 'troupes' in review. He trains his particular theatrical troupe himself under superior direction from the Dramatics Society. He also carries a pistol on his hip, and if necessary knows how to use it. After finishing their 'Dance of the Red Machines' on the greensward, these youthful dancers ended up with the Communist salute, and marched back to their dressing-rooms. Photo by Edgar Snow, 1936."
