John K. Kane letter to Elisha Kent Kane, 1844 May 13
Scope and Contents
Materials include an original letter from John K. Kane to Elisha Kent Kane, saying that Thomas L. Kane has returned home healthier and taller. The letter explains the tensions between the Irish and the Native American party, comments on Martin Van Buren’s character, and gives the opinion that Henry Clay will be the next president. May 14, 1844.
