John K. Kane lecture manuscript, 1841 November 26
Scope and Contents
Materials include John K. Kane's twenty-one page manuscript for the lecture he gave in November 1841 before the Mercantile Library Company of Philadelphia. His lecture is about the freedom of thought and says that "freedom is as indispensable to the growth and expansion of the mind, as it is to happiness." The manuscript is inlaid in a folded sheet used as a cover sheet with a title possibly written out by Elias Kent Kane. Dated November 26, 1841.
