John K. Kane letter to Elisha Kent Kane, 1844 March 12
Scope and Contents
Materials include an original letter from John K. Kane to Elisha Kent Kane predicting that both Texas and Oregon will be part of the Union in a year. John mentions the public outcry regarding the use of the Bible in public schools. He also gives Elisha an update about the family and politics and tells him about a friendly letter from Martin Van Buren. Dated March 12, 1844.
