John K. Kane letter to Thomas L. Kane, 1846 June 18
Scope and Contents
Materials include an original letter from John K. Kane to Thomas L. Kane. John writes that the government seeks definite word about the character of the Mormon leaders. John tells Thomas that California should now be an undisputed American possession and that he, Thomas, has the President's (James K. Polk's) utmost confidence. John has received a confirmation as a United States District Court judge and that James Buchanan is to be his associate. Dated June 18, 1846.
