Scope and Contents
Contains letters from Alvin Fielding Smith to his wife Amelia Atkins Smith, or "Millie," and his daughter Ruth, or "Ruthie." Smith writes to his family in Salt Lake City, Utah from aboard the S. S. Arabic of the White Start Line as he journeys across the Atlantic Ocean to England, where he will serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He includes travel experiences and anecdotes, as well as descriptions of the ship and voyage. Later materials are written from Liverpool and London, England, in which he writes of meetings, daily affairs of missionary work, and missing his family. Dated May 1, 1905 - May 31, 1905.
