Hooker was a bullwhacker, plainsman, journalist, and author; spent most of his newspaper career in Wisconsin; well known also in Wyoming and New York City. A gathering of literary manuscripts, correspondence, and newsclippings received from Fred Rosenstock and added to the Ellison papers after the main body of the collection had been organized and described.
