Scope and Contents

Handwritten diary of John covering his life from June 1885-May 1889. Includes descriptions of his experiences in his duties as regional presiding bishop for the Utah Stake, member of the Utah Stake presidency, and Utah Stake Sunday School superintendent. Also includes entries related to his arrest, trial, hiding, and eventual time in prison for polygamy. Pages 320-329 includes a lis of people imprisoned for "the celestial law of marriage" from November 1884-June 1887. John also includes transcriptions of letters he wrote or received, as well as recounts dreams and visions he received. An index is included at the end of the volume. Dated 1885-1889.
