Biographical / Historical
John Telford (1944- ) is a Utah outdoor photographer. John Telford was born December 31, 1944. Although essentially self-taught, he received an MFA from the University of Utah, where he was the supervisor of photograph at Educational Media Services, and is a Professor Emeritus at Brigham Young University where he was also the former Chair of the Department of Visual Arts. He also taught at Westminster College, the Salt Lake Art Center, and Hill Air Force Base. Previously he won the prestigious Karl G. Maeser Award for Creative Excellence at BYU and has won numerous other awards and honors throughout the country. His photographs have been published extensively and exhibited both nationally and internationally and are included in numerous public and private collections. He has authored and co-authored seventeen books.
