Typewritten journal includes nearly daily entries from January 1, 1932, to July 4, 1933. He died on July 27, 1933. Begins with Talmage in Salt Lake City, Utah. Most entries pertain to meetings, travels, and other duties related to his calling as an Apostle. These include funerals, presiding at stake conferences, setting apart missionaries and bishoprics, ordaining men to priesthood offices, and meeting with various committees and Church organizations. Also includes entries related to family events. Mentions his declining health and frequent falls. Includes several newspaper clippings related to Talmage's addresses and travels, or other important Church and world news, including deaths of Church leaders and a large article on Talmage and his wife in the July 1932 "Improvement Era.". Also includes articles on Talmage's death and funeral services, dated up to August 5, 1933. Dated 1932-1933.

Originals restricted. Digital copy of the first twelve of thirty volumes of Talmage's personal journals (1879-1911) available online. Unedited typescripts and microfilm of all thirty volumes also available.

The literary rights to the Talmage collection rest with the Harold B. Lee Library and the Talmage family. Permission to publish material from the James E. Talmage collection must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Coordinating Committee.
