Collection of legends about appearances and manifestations of supernatural beings and revenants, 1958-2019
Scope and Contents
Contains fieldwork reports on legends of visitation by God, Mary, angels, deathless or resurrected saints, dead relatives, other dead (both benign and malign), the Devil, Cain, and demons. Some items, particularly the reports of visits from dead relatives, span the boundary between family history and folklore; they have identifiable creators and often report complete, short chains of transmission. Items were collected by students in folklore classes at Brigham Young University, Utah State University, and the University of Utah from 1958 to 2019.
