Scope and Contents

Folder 1: The German article "Das Orgelbauergeschlecht Silbermann in Basel" gives a history of the Silbermann family and their organ-building activities in Basel; French article titled "Le concours d'orgue et d'Organologie", about organs and organology which references the Silbermanns; Section of a German article by Ulrich Dahnert with no title visible, but it is about the Freiberg cathedral organ built by Gottfried Silbermann. Attached to this is another article titled "Die Disposition der Freiberger Domorgel und Die Zusammensetzung ihrer Gemischten Stimmen," or in English, "The specifications of the Freiberg cathedral organ and the placement together of their mixed voices." It is about the Silbermann organ in Freiberg and its specifications. There is also an article in English by Dahnert as well, published in the Organ Yearbook 1973, and it is about the "Newly Restored Silbermann ORgan in the Catholic Court Church, Dresden.” Also a photocopied article in French titled “Dupont de Nancy et l'orgue de Neuwiller vus par J. Andre Silbermann,” which talks about the Neuwiller organ and its connection to Johann Andreas Silbermann. There is also another French article about the history of the "land of organs". Lastly there is an article in German by E. Flade about Johann Andreas Silbermann. Folder 2: Article in French by P. Meyer-Siat about the organ of Johann Andreas Silbermann in Bouxwiller, then an article by P. Meyer-Siat about the Silbermann organ in the St. George church and the Dominican church of Colmar; An article in German about the Silbermann family; Article by Siat about the Silbermann organ in Marmoutier; photocopied excerpt from chapter II of a book, about the organs of Johann Andreas Silbermann; Excerpt from a book titled "Glanes sur les Silbermann," or "Gleanings on the Silbermanns." Photocopied excerpt from a book in French by Marc Schaefer about the ancient organs in the Saint-Etienne church in Mulhouse; French article about discovering a Silbermann orgel in Bas-Rhin. Lastly, there is an excerpt from a French music dictionary with an entry on Silbermann. Folder 3: Article by Christoph Schwarzenberg about the Silbermann organ at Crostau, and then an article in French about Albert Schweizer and the Silbermann organ at Marmoutier; Article in Dutch by J.F. van Os about the reconstructed organ in the Predigerkirche in Basel; Article by Harald Vogel about small-organ studies shown on the model of the Fuhrer organ in the old reformed church at Bunde; Two Italian articles both talking about Johann Andreas Silbermann's construction criteria. German appendix entry on J. A. Silbermann. Finally there is an english article about the Silbermann organs in Freiberg Saxony. Folder 4: French article on the Strasbourg cathedral; German article by Martin Hesselbacher about the Silbermann organ in Meissenheim; Silbermann entry in the German Riemann Musik Lexikon. Then there is a folded-up article in German about the Johann Andreas Silbermann organ in St. Landolin in Ettenheimmunster; article by P. Albert Hohn in German about the organs of Johann Andreas Silbermann; article in German about the Silbermann organ in the Strassburg cathedral, by Dr. F.X. Mathias; article in French by P. Meyer-Siat about organ builders in Alsace, one of whom is Johann Andreas Silbermann. Materials dated 1926 to 1987.
