Scope and Contents

Contains Lillie Williams' personal diaries, dated 1923 to 2017. Lillie's writings focus mainly on her family life, including her marriages and death of spouses through the years and the raising of her daughter, Margaret. Most of these events took place in Hurricane, Utah. Also contains some family correspondence in the form of letters and printed emails, as well as photographs and certificates.

Biographical / Historical

Lillie Williams was born Lillie Margaret Foster on October 3, 1923 in Cedar City, Utah, to Joseph D. and Theresa Knell Foster. She had five siblings. In 1943, she married Golden Lang in California before he left for service in world War II. After his death in 1945, Lillie cared for their daughter Margaret while living with her parents and working as a receptionist until she met and married Leo Ray Parker on December 1, 1948. During their marriage, they lived in Cedar City, California, and Hurricane, Utah. They had a son, Don Ray Parker born December 16, 1954. Lillie held multiple jobs through the years including receptionist positions, a secretary for North American Aviation, and as the Assistant Vice President of West Coast Federal Savings and Loan. Ray and Lillie worked together in the Saint George, Utah temple, and travelled to several countries after they both retired. After Ray passed on April 28, 1997, Lillie remarried in August of 2001 to Gordon Williams. She died March 6, 2017, in Hurricane, Utah.
