General

Note on verso: "97. Products of the Red arsenal. The hand-grenades shown here, the trench mortar, shot, and rifle bullets are the chief products turned out in the small arsenals in possession of the Reds when I visited them. They now have much better arsenals. At this time all the products of their arsenals also make agricultural implements which they supply to poor farmers breaking new ground given them as a result of land redistribution carried out by the Communists. The sabres used by the cavalry are made in the Red arsenal, using scrap iron collected from all the Red districts, including temple bells and iron Buddhas etc. Photo by Edgar Snow, 1936."
