James Oakey letter to Thomas Oakey, 1867 August 25
Scope and Contents
A letter written by James Oakey in Paris, Idaho to his son Thomas Oakey in Salt Lake City. James is very upset to hear that Tom is planning to go to Green River to mine gold. Very interesting letter suggesting seeking gold is as bad as going to Hell and in fact is nothing else. Better to stay at his building trade and help to build the tabernacle. And don't take his brother Jim along either. Dated August 25, 1867.
