Biographical / Historical
Harold Fiske Sanborn, Sr. created the Sanborn Souvenir Company in Denver, Colorado in the 1920s. When the company began printing halftone, linen and photochrome postcards well into the 1970s, real photo postcards established the company as a major publisher. Sanborn would travel throughout the western states, primarily Colorado and Wyoming, photographing local sites and printing his images on postcards and then selling them as souvenirs. His postcards feature hand-written titles, his signature, and an identifier for the print. Sanborn's son, William P. Sanborn assisted in retaking photos to keep their collection current for customers. The Sanborn Company were in business for around 30 years from 1925-1957.
