Scope and Contents
Typewritten and handwritten journal includes nearly daily entries from January 1, 1928, to December 31, 1929. Begins with Talmage in Liverpool, England, and ends with him in Salt Lake City, Utah. Most entries pertain to Talmage's return to England after being released as mission president, and meetings or other events related to Talmage's duties as an Apostle, particularly attending stake conferences and visiting members of the Church throughout the United States, or ordaining missionaries, bishops, or performing other priesthood ordinances. Includes newspaper clippings and programs pertaining to Talmage or the Church, or important news of the day, particularly with acheivement in air flight. Dated 1928-1929.

Originals restricted. Digital copy of the first twelve of thirty volumes of Talmage's personal journals (1879-1911) available online. Unedited typescripts and microfilm of all thirty volumes also available.
Conditions Governing Use
The literary rights to the Talmage collection rest with the Harold B. Lee Library and the Talmage family. Permission to publish material from the James E. Talmage collection must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services at specialcollections@byu.edu.
