26, personal journal / James E. Talmage, 1924-1925
Scope and Contents
Typewritten and handwritten journal includes nearly daily entries from January 1, 1924, to December 31, 1925. Begins and ends with Talmage in Salt Lake City, Utah. The first half includes primarily entries of meetings, lectures, funerals, and other duties pertaining to his calling as an Apostle, particularly attending stake conferences and traveling to different regions of the United States. The second half revolves around Talmage's appointment as president of the European Mission in August 1924. Includes copies of the blessings he, his wife, and two children received when being set apart in October. Most entries for the end of 1924 and all of 1925 pertain primarily to meetings with missionaries and members around Europe, or other duties as mission president. Includes newspaper clippings and programs related to Talmage, including many on Talmage's addresses on various topics, as well as news of advancements in flight and Talmage's reply to claims the Church is still practicing polygamy, and other issues against the Church in British newspapers. Also includes a photograph of missionaries to serve in the new German-Austrian Mission. Dated 1924-1925.
