Administrative History
The Delta Phi Fraternity began as the "Friars Club" at the University of Utah in 1921 as a social organization for returned missionaries. Chapters spread to Weber College and Utah Agricultural College in 1927 and to Brigham Young University in 1929. Its name was changed to Delta Phi in 1931. The name changed again to Delta Phi Kappa in 1961 in order to avoid confusion with another fraternity. Delta Phi Kappa merged with another fraternity, Sigma Gamma Chi, in 1978. Delta Phi's activities included conducting firesides, concerts, and service projects. Publications included "The Friar News," "Delta Phi Bulletin," and "Delta Phi Clarion."
