Biographical / Historical
The Brigham Young University Security Office was founded in 1952 for the purpose of protecting BYU students and faculty. The Security Office also regulated parking and vehicles. In 1956, Security Office began a campus lost and found service. The Security Office also acted as a liason between BYU and the local police, provided fingerprinting services, and ran the campus ambulance service. The Security Office had two administrators: Leonard E. Christensen (1952-1961) and Swen C. Nelson (1961-1972). The Security Office was abolished and replaced by the Security/Police in 1975.
