Administrative History
Whitney Hall (1956-2013) was a student housing unit at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Whitney Hall was dedicated in 1956 as part of the Heritage Halls residence complex at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Also numbered as building 23, Whitney Hall was named after Elizabeth Ann Smith Whitney, the wife of Newel Kimball Whitney, who was the second presiding bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Designed for apartment-style living, the halls were supervised by a head resident and were meant to provide training in homemaking skills. The dorms also elected student officers, who assisted in planning events and activities. Whitney Hall was demolished in 2013 during the total renovation of Heritage Halls.
