Administrative History
Women's Sports Information (1976-2003) supplemented the public relation aims of athetics at Brigham Young University.
Women's Sports Information was created in 1976 to supplement Brigham Young University's Sports Information under University Relations. When Sports Information became Athletic Media Relations under Intercollegiate Athletics in 1996, Women's Sports Information continued to exist as an associated unit. The program was abolished in 2003 and the responsibilities of the organization were assumed by Athletic Media Relations. Ellen Larsen (1976-1995) and Norma Collett (1996-2003) served as directors of Women's Sports Information. Women's Sports Information functioned to promote the women's sports programs of the university. This was done through publicity, including the preparation and selling of event programs, photo publicity, game and player statistics, and coordination with other athletic organizations.
