Administrative History
All degree programs in the Department of Recreation Management and Youth Leadership are open enrollment. Students in the Department of Recreation Management and Youth Leadership may choose an undergraduate emphasis from the following areas: leisure services management, therapeutic recreation, or Scouting education. Though the three areas represent diverse and unique approaches, they share the commitment to a service-oriented profession. Depending upon the particular emphasis, courses prepare students in the areas of leadership skills, systems management, budgeting and finance, program development, facilities management, philosophy of volunteerism, and current issues in the field. Undergraduate programs and degrees include a BS in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership with emphases in Leisure Services Management and Therapeutic Recreation, and a BS in Scouting Education.
