Biographical History
George M. Addy (born 1927) was a Mormon historian and history professor in Utah.
George Milton Addy was born on July 6, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George Edwin Addy and Willa Pool. He studied history at Brigham Young University, earning his bachelor's degree in 1948 and his master's in 1950. In 1951 he married Caroline Stucki, and they later had one daughter. Addy then completed a Ph.D. in history at Duke University in 1957 before returning to Utah to join the history faculty at Brigham Young University. His interests focused primarily on modern Spanish history, including the Spanish Enlightenment. He received a Fulbright Research Scholarship for 1964-1965, researching in Spain. Addy retired from the university in 1992.
