Biographical History

From the Collection:

Thomas Kent Hinckley (1933-2010) was a geography professor in Utah.

Thomas Kent Hinckley was born on December 11, 1933 in Provo, Utah to George Marion Hinckley and Nita Johnson. He also served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Western Canadian Mission between 1954 and 1956. He then completed his undergraduate degree in 1958 at Brigham Young University. He also received a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a doctorate from the University of Western Ontario.

After completing his doctoral degree, Hinckley worked for the United States Air Force for fifteen years, serving in Vietnam and teaching at the Air Force Academy. He joined the Brigham Young University faculty in 1972, retiring after 25 years.

Hinckley passed away on September 12, 2010.
