Biographical History

From the Collection:

In 1979, Jae Ballif was appointed as Administrative Vice-President to President Oaks. In 1980, when Jeffrey Holland became President of Brigham Young University, Ballif was appointed to the newly created office of Provost, an administrative office second only to the office of President. Dr. Ballif held the office of Provost until 1989, when President Holland was called into the First Quorum of Seventy. At that time, Dr. Ballif returned to teaching in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Before 1979, Dr. Ballif was Dean of the College of Science, and was thereafter called as Mission President to New England.
